New FPS Group subsistence guidelines On the 14th of April HMRC released its new subsistence rate guidelines to employers for making subsistence payments to employees who incur allowable business travel expenses. FPS Group adopted this policy immediately and all claims being made from this date onwards have had the new rates applied. Previously, you needed to leave your house before 7:30am to qualify for subsistence, with the new rules under regular working hours you can claim £5 per day provided you are away from the house for at least 5 hours and £10 when you are away from the house for at least 10 hours. If you work irregular hours, and leave your house before 6am you can claim £5 breakfast allowance or if you start late and leave the house after 8pm then you can claim a £15 dinner allowance. Receipted subsistence and scale rate subsistence rates cannot be combined in any one working week. Although you do not have to produce receipts to claim under subsistence allowance, you must have purchased the meals that you are claiming, and should keep receipts as a record of these purchases. All claims must be made using our new expenses claim form which is accessible from the members lounge area on FPS Group website www.fpsgroup.com, by emailing expenses@fpsgroup.com or calling 08707 669 229. If you are uncertain as to what can now be claimed through subsistence allowance then please contact our membership services team on 08707 669 229 alternatively email expenses@fpsgroup.com.
